Our Lady of Guadalupe Catholic Church

Our Mission
(who we are)

We, the Catholic Community of Our Lady of Guadalupe, guided by the Holy Spirit and Our Lady of Guadalupe's message, acknowledge diversity as God's precious gift. We commit ourselves to proclaim the Gospel, to celebrate our spiritual and cultural traditions, to take the needs and concerns of everyone to heart, and to build unity among all people. (Our Lady of Guadalupe Pastoral Council, May 1998)

Our History

In April of 1969, the Guadalupe Apostolic Center was dedicated. The Center was under the direction of the clergy of St. John's in Healdsburg.

In 1971, under the direction of Rev. Wilfred Sheehy, the name of the center was changed to Our Lady of Guadalupe Mission.

On April 5, 1982 fire gutted the interior and destroyed the roof.

The Mission of Our Lady of Guadalupe was rebuilt in August of 1983.

A new church building was constructed during Rev. Thomas Gowing's administration and dedicated on December 12, 1993, the feast day of Our Lady of Guadalupe.

In June of 1994, Our Lady of Guadalupe was officially made a parish of the Diocese of Santa Rosa.

In September of 1994, Our Lady of Guadalupe welcomed its first pastor, Rev. Vincent O'Neill. Father O'Neill resigned from his position of pastor in 1996.

Rev. Angelito Peries took over as administrator in 1996 and was appointed pastor in 1997.

The Mary Agatha Furth Parish center completed construction in January of 2001.

The thriving parish community of Our Lady of Guadalupe continues to witness the Gospel of Jesus Christ in Sonoma County, California.
