Marriage
The Sacrament of Matrimony (Marriage)
The Catholic Church has seven sacraments. They are Baptism, Confirmation, Eucharist (Holy Communion), Reconciliation (Confession), Holy Orders, Matrimony (Marriage), and Anointing of the Sick.
What is Matrimony? God created men and women in his own image and likeness. Matrimony is called to image the self-donating love of the inner life of the Trinity and Christ’s nuptial relationship with His Church.
What did Jesus say to institute the sacrament of Matrimony? Jesus said, "Have you not read that he who made them from the beginning made them male and female, and said, `For this reason a man shall leave his father and mother and be joined to his wife, and the two shall become one flesh?’ So, they are no longer two but one flesh. What therefore God has joined together, let not man put asunder."Gospel of Matthew 19:4-6
What does Matrimony do for us? Marriage is the foundation of society and has the mission of serving the Church by bringing new children to her fold. It is a sacred vocation to which most people are called to work out their salvation and sanctify each other.
Sacramental grace helps us to carry out the particular purpose of that sacrament. What is that for Matrimony? It helps married people to bear with each other’s defects and to fulfill the duties of their state, chiefly bringing children into the world and rearing them for God.
How am I able to receive this sacrament? Those interested in a sacramental marriage in the Catholic Church should contact Yesenia Hernandez at 480-987-0315 ext. 101 or email YHernandez@ologparish.org

So, in order to attain Heaven, we must be saints. To be a saint, we need sacramental grace.
To gain sacramental grace, we need the SACRAMENTS.
